The Telangana Government announced a Youth & Sports Week from 18–23 May 2026, with activities held across all districts, including Wanaparthy. The program included marathons, fitness drives, yoga sessions, sports competitions, leadership events, career guidance, and community service activities to encourage youth participation in sports and healthy lifestyles.
The CM’s Cup 2026 sports competitions were conducted in Wanaparthy as part of Telangana’s initiative to identify talented athletes from rural areas. The event featured competitions in cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, athletics, badminton, and other sports, providing local youth with an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete at higher levels.
Wanaparthy defeated Medak 2-0 in the 11th Senior Men’s State Football Championship at Mahabubnagar Stadium. Mahabubnagar also secured a 1-0 win against Ranga Reddy. Balraju, Vijay Kumar and Sai Krishna were the goal scorers in Sunday’s matches. Wanaparthy scored a 2-0 win against Medak in the 11th Senior Men’s State Football Championship at Mahabubnagar Stadium on Sunday. In another match, Mahabubnagar recorded a 1-0 win against Ranga Reddy.
